Some families are entitled to funded childcare. There are lots of options available to parents to support with childcare costs
15 hours for all 3 & 4 year olds – all children are entitled to 15 hours of funded education for their child the term after their 3rd birthday. If your child already attends nursery you don’t need to do anything. If your child doesn’t yet attend nursery please contact us for more information.
15 hours for 2 year olds – if your family qualify for certain benefits and earn less than £16,190 per year or less or qualify for some other benefits then you may be eligible. Children are able to access the 15 hours the term after their 2nd birthday and often you will receive a letter to inform you that you may be eligible. If you do not receive a letter you can still check if you are eligible by visiting https://www.durham.gov.uk/playandlearn
15 hours for children aged 9 months and above – If you are a working family you may be eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare.
30 hours for 3 & 4 year olds – This is for families where both parents (or 1 parent in single parent house holds) are working at least 16 hours per week on minimum wage or earning below £100,000 per parent.
30 hours for 9 months old – from September 2025 working families with children aged 9 months and above will also be able to access 30 hours of funded childcare. This commences the term after your child turn 9 months. Although we don’t take children until the age of 2 with this funding we will be able to tale children from their 2nd birthday as the code can be activated before their second birthday.
